PRESS KUNSTRAI 2018
The 34th edition of Art Amsterdam will take place from the 4th of April until the 8th. Art Amsterdam is the longest running art fair for contemporary autonomous and applied art in the Netherlands.
After Berlin and Antwerp seven galleries from Barcelona are invited to represent their city and art at Art Amsterdam. Barcelona has a international reputation when it comes to modern and contemporary art.
Solostands, RAW Edge Stands
About 25 galleries will bring an extra solo artist to their booth. Ten young galleries will be represented in a small Raw-Edge stand.
After three successful editions, De Kersentuin will again bring their diversity regarding contemporary sculptures. This backstage program will show many different artists. The art will be selected by Annelien Kers (owner KERSGALLERY and artistic coordinator De Vishal Haarlem). All showed works are connected to the KunstKoop arrangement from the Mondriaan Fondation.
For the third time artists who live and work in the creative breeding ground WOW Amsterdam will present their work together in a backstage program.
Willem de Kooning Academie
The Willem de Kooning Academy supports students to develop their interest. Their process of development is showed in their way of work and talent.
My Second Skin – Barbara Broekman
My Second Skin, by Barbara Broekman, will be showed at Art Amsterdam for the first time. The installation has also been showed at the Fries Museum.
My Second Skin is a square tent made of textile. Broekman uses this to bring together forty-six techniques and cultures in just one work.
The installation revolves around the idea that textile as clothing protects people from the elements.
A Curious Affair x Art Cabinet
Yes! QLICK gallery will again bring an exclusive night to Art Amsterdam. The evening will last until midnight and will be perfect for the young and upcoming artists. This is going to be A Curious Affair… The centre of the program will be all about the Art Cabinet. Works all over the fair are collected for collectors with a starting budget.
